Please join us at 6:30pm for a bit of fellowship time and refreshments.

From Our President

Hello Quilters,

I hope everyone had a joyful and safe Independence Day, filled with laughter, fireworks, and maybe even a little stitching in between the celebrations!

Summer is in full swing, and while the heat outside may slow us down, our creativity continues to shine brightly. This is the perfect time to pull out those colorful fabrics, finish some UFOs, or even start something new and summery. Whether you are working on patriotic-themed projects, prepping for the State Fair, or just enjoying the process—know that each stitch is part of a story you are creating.

Our guild continues to grow stronger because of you—your time, talents, and willingness to share. If you have never signed up for a committee or brought a friend to a meeting, now is a great time to dive in. We are in need of volunteers in several areas. It’s a wonderful way to get to know your fellow members.

It was brought to my attention after the June meeting that some members had great difficulty hearing the speaker. I was deeply sorry to hear this and you have my sincere apologies. Since I was sitting in the front of the room, I was unaware of the issue at the time. We have purchased a microphone to prevent future problems just in time for our exciting meeting this month. Sarah Thomas, of Saraditty, will be our speaker in July. It’s not too often we have a Moda designer at our meeting, and it promises to be very special!

Wishing you cool breezes, creative energy, and many happy hours at the sewing machine.

See you at the next meeting!

Warmly,
Dana Sederoff
President, Scrapbasket Quilt Guild

August Program - August 19

It’s  Annual Auction time!!!

Calling all quilters!  We all have some things to get rid of but could also use some new things, right?
The annual auction is coming up at the August 19th meeting. It will begin at 6:00 pm. Please bring any quilt items you would like to auction off and fill out a bid ticket. Consider adding a minimum selling price. We will be setting up the auction at 5:00 pm, so if you want to come early to help set up, or if you need to fill out a bid ticket, we will be there.
Auction items can include fabric, UFOs, notions, books, puzzles, food, services (quilting) or anything that you think would make someone happy!  We will also have a pattern/book table so bring those too.
The pattern/book table will be priced at $1 each and there will be raffle tickets for the board basket which will also be $1. We will accept cash or checks.

We will have baskets from the beelet for the live auction, and any items with more than 5 bids in the silent auction will automatically go to the live auction. Refreshments will be served!!
The auction is one of the biggest money makers for the guild, so please come to support our group and help bring great programs and activities to our group.
Any questions?  Please reach out to Evelyn Stephenson or Cindi Johnson

Calling all Board and Committee Members:
Just a reminder to think about contributions to the Board Basket for the upcoming auction. Please bring your items to the July meeting. Your help is much appreciated.

Assistance Requested with Program Ideas

Calling all members for your input and suggestions for 2026 programs.  I seem to be hitting a lot of brick walls in my efforts and could really use your ideas.  Kristi has done such a great job this year, and she is really going to be a hard act to follow!  I don’t want to let you down.

We saw in April that Zoom meetings can be very instructive.  Techniques were shown that could not have been seen in person.  Personally, I would love to see a program on different binding techniques.  Have you noted someone on You-Tube, a podcast, or at another guild meeting you have attended that really caught your interest.  Please share any suggestion and I will research and follow up.  Your help is very appreciated.

Committee Activities

Block of the Month & Challenges
Beth Archer

Theme:  July 4th - Freedom Day

Technique: Stars

Can’t wait to see your interpretation of this month’s challenge block.

Remember, if you want to work ahead, the Block Challenges are posted on our website.  Remember, you get to choose the block size and color palette and be as creative as you would like.  Use these blocks to challenge yourself to try new techniques or perfect them AND to try different color palettes. Channel your creative side.

Are you already thinking ahead to the SHOWCASE?  Your quilts and projects made from the blocks you created will be the STAR of the show, complete with a friendly contest and prizes.

We love seeing your completed blocks each month.  If you are running a little behind… no worries, plenty of time to catch up.  Our final showcase will be in December.

A few monthly completions...

Donation Quilts
Cindi Johnson

I recently donated 8 finished quilts, 15 quilt tops and 3 pillowcases to Quilts For Kids. They serve newborns to age 21. Barbara was very pleased and surprised and very grateful. I received this card from her.

Thank you all!

Fundraising

The response to the fundraising efforts for The Bow Wow Bash has been incredible!  I love seeing all the very creative and adorable items you all are making.  Please continue to bring your items to the meeting.  We will have a “special” Show and Tell just for fundraising and then we are able to collect and store your items.  Keep up the great work!

The Bow Wow Bash at Misty Eyes Animal Center
September 28th from 12 PM – 5PM.

Volunteers Needed for the 2026 Raffle Quilt

I am looking for helping hands to assist with our guild’s next raffle quilt project. Whether you can quilt, bind, sell tickets, work events or help organize volunteers, your help is appreciated. Not only will you be contributing to a beautiful quilt, but you’ll also be helping to raise funds for speakers and programs.

If you are interested in helping I will be passing around a sign up sheet at our next meeting.

Info

Member to Member

This is an opportunity for you to list quilting items/supplies/patterns that you no longer want.

Small Pins for Crafting:  Do you have some small dressmaker pins that you no longer need or use?  (My grandma had a whole pint jar of them.)  I am looking for some small pins to use for a craft project.  They should have a small flat head.  I've you'd like to get rid of your collection of them, I'd be happy to take them off your hands.  Thanks very much for your help.
