Scrapbasket Quilt Guild Meeting Minutes -February 2026

Call to Order

  • The February meeting of the Scrapbasket Quilt Guild was called to order at 7:02 PM on 02/17/2026 in Brownsburg, IN.

  • Forty-four members were welcomed by president Sandy Beard, with no new members or guests.

Announcements

  • One of the quilts for this year’s raffle was on display at the meeting. It is a beautiful quilt of black stars on a bright rainbow background. This will be referred to as the “black” quilt. Our other raffle quilt not present at the meeting will be referred to as the “white” quilt, having a white background.

  • Raffle quilt sizes are:

o Black quilt: 77” x 88”

o White quilt: 97” x 107”

  • Pictures will be taken of both quilts and should be available by our next meeting to help in selling raffle tickets.

  • Raffle tickets are now ready for members to pick up. Each member is expected to sell at least 24 tickets. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The owner of the first ticket drawn will choose the quilt they wish to have, the second ticket’s owner will receive the remaining quilt.

  • We need volunteers to help sell our raffle tickets at the Bloomington quilt show on March 5, 6 & 7. Shifts are 2 hours. A sign-up sheet was passed around.

  • Also needed are volunteers to help with the Bloomington quilt show itself. A link to sign up for this is on the Scrapbasket website and in the newsletter. This will gain you free entrance into the quilt show.

Committee Reports

Donations – Cindy Johnson: Two bins are in the lobby for donations, one is for completed projects and the other is for loose materials. The loose materials bin will be available for a few months if you would like to use some of it for your donation quilts. After a few months the remaining supplies will be donated to other organizations.

Refreshments – Linda Paulson:

o Thank you to Pam Maki and Debbie Gilmore for providing the refreshments this evening.

o At the beginning of each month, Linda will notify the people who signed up to bring refreshments for that month so they can coordinate with each other in deciding what to bring.

Cheer – Rhonda Nelson:

o A “thinking of you” card was sent to Linda Auberry on behalf of the guild.

Block of the Month – Dana Sederoff (for Linda Cook):

o This month the goal was to complete blocks 1-10 from Tula Pinks’s book of 100 Modern Quilt Blocks. Quite a few members who had completed the blocks showed their results.

o Mary Lynn Meranda stated she has an extra book for this project at home. Please contact her if you are interested in using it.

Challenges – The theme for February was to complete a panel (or any other) UFO. Several members shared their completed challenges.

Quilts of Valor – Kathy Walker and Mary DeRemer:

o Thank you to those who brought back completed blocks using the “Echoes” pattern. If you picked up one of these kits in January, please bring it back by the March meeting.

o More Echoes block kits were picked up by volunteers this month. These will be due back by the April meeting.

Show and Tell

Several members shared their recent inspiring quilt projects. Look for pictures in the next newsletter. A door prize for show and tell was awarded.

Program:

Tonight’s meeting was an impressive trunk show by Connie Waas, a local quilter and one of the founding members of our guild. She displayed and talked about some of the numerous and beautiful quilts she has created throughout her many years as a quilter.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:05 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathy Walker, Secretary
