See You Tuesday!

From Our President

Happy December, everyone!

As we wrap up another wonderful year of quilting, creativity, and community, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for the warmth and spirit you bring to our guild. Whether you stitched one block or finished five quilts this year, your enthusiasm keeps our guild thriving.

December is always a special month—full of celebrations, reflection, and of course, plenty of cozy fabric projects. I hope you’re finding moments to enjoy your sewing space during this busy season. A few minutes with needle and thread can be the perfect way to pause and recharge.

At our December meeting, we’ll enjoy our annual holiday party.  The guild will supply the main course and paper products.  Please bring your beverage of choice, a dish for the pitch-in, and a Christmas themed show and tell.  This can be any medium – not just quilting.  We will also have some special entertainment that I am sure you are going to love!

REMEMBER:  THE MEETING STARTS AT 6PM

Looking ahead to next year, we have exciting programs, workshops, and community projects planned. Thank you to the volunteers who keep everything running so beautifully. Your time and talents are truly appreciated.

Wishing each of you a joyful holiday season filled with comfort, creativity, and maybe even a new sewing gadget or two. Here’s to a bright and inspiring year ahead!

Warmly,
Dana Sederoff
President, Scrapbasket Quilt Guild

Volunteer Time

Looking Ahead Together

As I prepare to step into the role of President, I am filled with both excitement and gratitude. Our guild has a bright future, and I am eager to work alongside all of you as we continue to grow, create, and support one another. Looking toward 2027, we already have wonderful programs scheduled for 2026—but we still need a few key volunteers to help bring those plans to life.

We are currently seeking:

Program Volunteers for 2027 – planning starts now in 2026, and your ideas and energy are essential.

Secretary – someone to record minutes and help keep our guild organized.

Vice President for 2026 – a member willing to step into the leadership role the following year.

Ticket Sales for Raffle Quilt- someone to help collect money from ticket sales and distribute tickets as needed.

If you’ve ever considered getting more involved, this is a wonderful opportunity to support the guild and help shape its future. Without your volunteerism the whole structure of our current guild may change in the future.

Thank you to all who have volunteered to continue in the roles they supported this past year, and to those who have stepped up to take on new leadership positions. Your willingness to give your time, talents, and energy is what keeps our guild strong and thriving. We are truly grateful for each of you.

Thank you to all who give so generously—whether through materials, time, quilting, or other resources—to help bring our Quilts of Valor and community donation projects to life. We could not do this without you.

On a personal note, since moving to this community just four years ago—far from our extended family and long time friendships—this guild has been a source of creativity, connection, and joy. I am deeply grateful for the friendships I’ve formed here and continually inspired by the talent, generosity, and shared ideas that flow through each meeting and every quilting project our members bring.
Thank you for being part of what makes this guild such a warm and vibrant place. I’m looking forward to all we will accomplish together in 2026.

2026 Block of the Month

Linda Cook

A vote was taken in November and the 100 Modern Quilt Blocks (Tula Pink’s City Sampler) won the most votes.  The book can be purchased from Amazon for $20.64 or you may be able to find one through a used book website for less than that.  Some libraries in the area have copies such as the Indianapolis-Marion County Libraries or you may be able to get the book via inter-library loan. Ask your librarian if you decide you want to borrow a copy through your library.

If you’d like to start making blocks we will be completing ten blocks per month for ten months.  If you’d rather make one of the smaller 64-70 block quilts shown in back of the book you can complete seven blocks per month.  Blocks 1-10 should be made in January and brought to the February guild meeting.  I plan to place a schedule for the blocks to made every month on the Scrapbasket website by the end of December.

Let me know if you have any questions.  My contact info is on the member page.  Happy quilting!

Cheer
Rhonda Nelson

If you know of any Scrapbasket member needing a little cheer, please let Rhonda Nelson know. She will be happy to send a card from all of us. Thank you.

Donation Quilts
Cindi Johnson

This time of year would be a great time to try making a quilted hug to donate! Beautiful way to keep nursing home or hospice patients warm. Also, I have kept post it notes with the donation bucket. If you have donated anything this year make sure I have your name! I was unable to make it to the October meeting as it was a really crazy month for my family. I hope to have some more donated projects to deliver before the end of the year, but I know that the holidays are so busy for everyone. Make sure you are taking some time to relax and make something just for you!

Quilts of Valor

Long-arm quilters, we need your help. We have 3 completed quilt tops ready for quilting. Please let us know if you could volunteer your services to help with this. We can reimburse the thread cost with funds from our budget.

We are in search of any remaining block kits from sometime last year for a large scrappy star. The 18-1/2” block looks like the picture below. Kindly check if you have a kit like this in your sewing room and bring it to the next meeting…it does not need to be completed.

We wish you very happy holidays!

President's Block

It's the last month to bring your President's block.  Dana has chosen a House block.  Below are the instructions.  Please complete a block, sign it on the front of the block, and bring it to the December meeting when we will present the blocks to her.  I will be collecting the blocks before the meeting.

Sandy Beard, Vice President

2026 Raffle Quilt Update

The black and multi-colored raffle quilt is currently being quilted, and we extend a big thank-you to our volunteer who has offered to complete the binding.

If you missed our last meeting, President Dana Sederoff has generously donated a beautiful white and multi-colored quilt as an additional raffle item. In October, the first ticket drawn will have their choice of the two quilts, and the second ticket drawn will receive the remaining quilt. Thank you again to everyone for your generosity in creating and donating these quilts to support our guild’s charitable efforts.
