From Our President
It's hard to believe that by the end of June we will be halfway through the year!
I am excited about this month's meeting. We will be presenting one of the Quilts of Valor quilts completed by our members. Whether you helped sew blocks, machine quilted, bound the quilt, or contributed in another way, your efforts helped create a meaningful gift for a veteran. Thank you for your support of this special project.
I continue to be thrilled with the participation in our Unfinished Objects Challenges. In June, the challenge is to complete a floral- or nature-themed panel project—or whatever unfinished project has sparked your interest and is ready to be completed. In July, the challenge will be to complete a patriotic-themed project.
We have also had great participation in our Block of the Month project, Tula Pink's 100 Modern Quilt Blocks. It has been fun to see the fabrics and color combinations everyone is using to make each block unique. I know some of you have already completed all 100 blocks. Congratulations! Now it's time to turn those blocks into a finished project.
Raffle Quilt Update: Bonnie Miller (thank you, Bonnie!) and I made a quick trip to Back Door Quilts in Greenwood on Saturday to display our raffle quilts. We sold $71 in tickets, bringing our total to $1,504. We are getting closer to our goal of $2,000! Please continue to sell tickets.
Reminder: Our July meeting will be held on the second Tuesday, July 14, due to a scheduling conflict with the church. Please mark your calendars.
Volunteers Needed: We are seeking someone to step into the Vice President role for 2027, which will lead to serving as President in 2028. We also need a volunteer to take over the Newsletter beginning in January 2027. Lois will be happy to work with you before the transition to ensure a smooth handoff.
Please reach out to me if you are interested in either position. If you would like to help with one of our committees, please let the committee chair or me know.
Thank you to everyone who helps our guild continue to thrive. Whether you attend meetings, sell raffle tickets, serve on a committee, contribute to guild projects, or help put away chairs and tables after meetings, your efforts are appreciated and make a difference.
I look forward to seeing everyone at our June meeting!
Sandy Beard
President
Raffle Quilt Update
Please continue to sell tickets and\or donate at least $20 per member to help fund this project which helps with next year's programs. Our goal is $2000.00.
Our drawing will be in October 2026.
It's Time to Start the 2027 Raffle Quilt!!
For our next raffle quilt, we will be making 6" Scrappy Triangles in 50 Different Foundations Half-Square Triangle Quilt Blocks by Leila Gardunia using her foundation paper piecing patterns.
Patterns will be available for pickup at the check-in tables during our next meeting.
Please use your own scrap fabrics for the triangle sections and do not trim the edges down. The Piecing Group will provide and add the solid background pieces when assembling the quilt.
We hope everyone will participate in creating one to three blocks for a variety of colorful, scrappy blocks. To allow time for assembly, please return your completed blocks by the September meeting.
Thank you for helping create another beautiful raffle quilt!

Lisa Lueck – Cuddle Ambassador for Shannon Fabrics
Lisa always enjoyed sewing with her Mom when she was young. That aside, her professional aspirations consisted of being a CPA. She did however leave public accounting after five years to follow her dream of owning a chocolate store. After 22 years of making chocolate, she recently gave it all up to pursue her passion of sewing, quilting, and embroidery. She fell in love with Shannon Fabrics over 10 years ago and began to make all things cuddle for her three kids. She currently lives in Zionsville, IN with her kids and husband and is excited about sharing her passion for Cuddle®.
In a Trunk Show Lisa will show us what else we can do with Cuddle/Minky besides back quilts. Lisa is a Sales Rep for Shannon fabrics. They do not normally present to guilds but instead do demos in quilt shops but since she lives in Zionsville and we asked, she will open the doors for us to see many new possible uses for this very popular fabric. We will even see some paper piecing!

June Challenge: Panel Month
June is Panel Month! Get that panel project off the shelf, put the finishing touches on it, and bring it to the meeting. We can’t wait to see your work.
As a fun and different twist this month, we also challenge you to bring an orphan block that you have no purpose for right now. We will exchange blocks at the meeting.
Take your new block home, make a cute potholder, and bring it back to the July meeting. If we have enough participants, we will have a fun “white elephant” exchange with our potholders.
Looking Ahead to July
If you are thinking ahead to July, the project is Patriotic.
We look forward to seeing everyone’s work. You all are amazing and never cease to inspire us with your creativity.
We had a productive group of quilters completing last months Challenge.

Quilts of Valor
Quilts of Valor presentations: At the June meeting, we will have the honor of witnessing the presentation of one of our Quilts of Valor to a deserving veteran! You will not want to miss this beautiful and heartwarming ceremony.
Also on Sunday, June 7th, Libby Holmes awarded one of the log cabin quilts created by our Scrapbasket members to a veteran of the Navy, who served for 6 years during the Vietnam War.
Reminder: Please bring your completed “Diamond Chain” blocks to the June meeting if you have finished them. Be sure to sign in on the log sheet(s) when you return them. All kits are due within two months of taking them home.

Retreat Update
I've been looking into some possible places for retreats. Tammi Earnest has a new retreat house close to Spencer.
She is having an open house this weekend and I hope to see it for myself. This I know: it has to have 10 people. It has five beds downstairs and five upstairs. It runs $900. a day with three day minimum, You have to provide you own meals.
Waycross is another retreat center near Bloomington, it has a minimum of 20 people and has a cook on staff. not sure of cost at this time. And I have a few more that I need to research.
If you and your quilting friends are interested in a retreat, I think you should start and to get a list of those who wish to go. Then get with me to see if we can get a minimum of 10 people interested in helping Tammi get started on her journey, or set up a larger group.
One of my quilty friends tells me of having a stay in your own bed retreat. That would require a space where we could set up our machines and sew all day. lock up and return the next day. I'm not having any luck with that one.
Feel free to reach out to me about your retreat feelings Mary Lynne.
