From Our President
Welcome Spring!
Dear Quilting Friends,
Spring has arrived, and with it, a renewed sense of energy and creativity! I hope this message finds you all in good health and ready to embrace the joy that quilting brings. As we move into April, we have so much to look forward to in our guild.
This month, we celebrate the beauty of spring through our quilting projects. The colors of blooming flowers and fresh new greens are a perfect inspiration for your work. Whether you are finishing a long-term project or starting something new, I encourage each of you to tap into the season's vibrant palette and let it inspire your designs. Our program for April, “The Magic of Disappearing Blocks”, will provide a perfect step on that path.
Looking ahead, we have some wonderful events for members to get involved. Staycation is a terrific opportunity to enjoy a day with fellow members sewing, visiting, and enjoying the friendship the day always provides. Be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, May 31st.
Lastly, I want to remind everyone to stay connected. Whether it is through our monthly meetings, workshops, or online forums, the strength of our guild lies in the support and camaraderie we share with one another. We all have something unique to contribute, and together, we can continue to foster a community that encourages creativity, learning, and friendship.
Wishing you all a wonderful month of quilting. Let’s make it a season of inspiration and connection!
Warmly,
Dana Sederoff

Programs and Workshops
April Program - April 15
Now you see it, Now you don’t. The Magic of Disappearing Blocks — “Learn about the magic and beauty of disappearing blocks with this interactive online lecture, demo and trunk show. Using 3 cameras, one on me and the quilts, one pointing straight down at the cutting mat, and one close-up on the quilts, I will be able to show you how easy it is to turn simple blocks into beautiful complex patterns. I will also show you how different block designs can be enhanced by color choices or slight modifications to make even more interesting full quilts.“
May Program - May 20
Erin Grogan from Love Sew Modern,
presents “Finding Your Quilty Identity”
“This lecture dives into the discovery of who you are as an artist as quilter. I’ve met many wonderful quilters who feel like they don’t know what they “like.” They say things like they only make quilts from kits or feel like they have to use what fabric is currently popular. There’s nothing wrong with this approach if it brings you joy, but if you’re looking to grow this is the lecture for you. I break down the four different stages of a quilter. I then share my process for finding the color palette that represents you.”
June Program - June 17
Catherine Redford presents: Lessons Learned while Quilting
“I offer an inspiring and entertaining yet informative lecture, Lessons Learned While Quilting. I use professionally shot photographs projected on a screen for a really good look at my quilts and bring a selection of items for even closer examination!”
June Workshop - Wednesday, June 18, 2025
Workshop with Catherine Redford: Beginning English Paper Piecing
“Learn the time honored technique of English Paper Piecing using pre-cut card templates. Stitch a simple flower and appliqué it to a background ready for a small pillow or mug rug. You will be introduced to some traditional and more innovative quilts to inspire your next project. Use hexagon paper to draw out your design and be ready with an ideal take along activity.”
Committee Activities
Block of the Month & Challenges
Beth Archer
Hey quilters…. How are your blocks coming? Hopefully you have been having fun creating and stretching your quilting persona with new ideas, color palettes and techniques that are either new to you or that you haven’t used in a while. Our hope is that you can use this year’s approach to do “your thing” in creating blocks that match your style and quilting personality.
Each month we are challenging you to complete a block that meets the theme and technique for the month. April’s challenge is to create a block that reflects either Easter or Spring Showers with either a hand or machine applique.
Remember, if you want to work ahead, the Block Challenges are posted on our website. Remember, you get to choose the block size and color palette and be as creative as you would like. Use these blocks to challenge yourself to try new techniques or perfect them AND to try different color palettes. Channel your creative side.
Are you already thinking ahead to the SHOWCASE? Your quilts and projects made from the blocks you created will be the STAR of the show, complete with a friendly contest and prizes.
We love seeing your completed blocks each month. If you are running a little behind… no worries, plenty of time to catch up. Our final showcase will be in December.
Cheer
Rhonda Nelson
If you know of any Scrapbasket member needing a little cheer, please let Rhonda Nelson know. She will be happy to send a card from all of us. Thank you.
Donation Quilts
Cindi Johnson
March and April I would like to particularly gather lots of quilts and /or pillowcases for ages 0-18 to donate to Project Linus. Here is a link to Project Linus website for some pattern ideas. Any patterns for quilts are great, you don’t have to purchase theirs if you don’t want to. But if you are looking for new patterns check them out!
Thanks for all of your donations!!

Creating Together for Our Guild
Thank you to everyone who shared ideas at our last meeting! I’m excited to explore craft booth opportunities that will allow us to sell handmade items, promote our guild in the community, and spark interest in new members. To make this vision a reality, I’m asking each member to donate a handmade item (or multiple items) of your choice, valued at $20, to be sold to raise funds for future guild activities. You’re welcome to donate more than once if you’d like, and the number of items we receive will determine how many events we can participate in. Feel free to get creative—our Block of the Month Challenge could be a great source of inspiration for your contributions!
Additionally, I’m looking for members—or perhaps a small beelet—interested in organizing a raffle quilt for 2026. This will be a collaborative project involving all guild members, with a completion goal of late 2025. If you’d like to help lead this effort, please let me know. Together, we can make these projects a success and continue building an even stronger guild!

Quilts of Valor
A New Year and A New Quilt Block
QOV is going on hiatus for a few months while I recover from surgery.
BUT, don’t let that stop you and your friends from getting a head start on a QOV. The block this year is the log cabin. Directions with measurements, colors, and suggestions for settings can be found on the QOVF.org web page. The block is fun, fast, and easy. If you are cutting out one block, you might as well cut out a few more.
As in the past the guild will provide batting and backing for your quilt tops.
I will eventually have some block kits and pillowcase kits for you to do.
As always, Kay was over the moon thrilled with the quilts we made last year. She always says we do outstanding, quality work.
