Scrapbasket Quilt Guild Meeting Minutes - July 2026
Call to Order
The July 2026 meeting of the Scrapbasket Quilt Guild was called to order by president Sandy Beard
at 7:00 PM on 7/14/2026 in Brownsburg, IN. Thirty-six members and three guests were in attendance.
Announcements
Auction - Evelyn Stephenson: for August’s meeting we will be holding the annual auction,
which is our large fundraising event of the year. Set-up will be at 5:30, the silent auction will
begin at 6:00 and the live auction at 7:00 pm. Bring any items you wish to donate. Bid sheets
are provided for the item description and naming a starting bid, if applicable.
The guild needs volunteers for the following open positions in 2027:
o Vice President
o Programs for 2028 (plan in 2027)
o Newsletter editor
Guests Melissa, Wendy and Margaret were introduced and welcomed to the guild.
Committee Reports
Donations – Cindy Johnson: St. Vincent’s newborn ICU has requested the following items:
o Standard pillowcases to be used for their crib mattresses
o Soft blankets for incubators – made of cotton flannel or fleece with bound edges (must
be soft fabric). The dimensions required will be posted on the Scrapbasket website.
Challenges – One member showed her completed UFO project.
Block of the Month – Linda Cook: The goal for July was to complete blocks 51-60 from Tula
Pinks’s book of 100 Modern Quilt Blocks. Seven members displayed their creations. Next
month’s goal will be blocks 61-70, but there will be no show and tell due to the auction. Bring
completed BOM blocks in September.
Quilts of Valor:
o Kathy Walker: Announced a need for volunteers for quilting 3 completed quilt tops, also
1 kit still available to sew blocks into a row.
o Sandy Beard: The veteran who was scheduled to receive his quilt at last month’s
meeting received it elsewhere. See the July newsletter for a photo.
Refreshments – Linda Paulson: Thank you to Sandy Beard and Charlene Salmon for providing
the refreshments.
2027 Raffle Quilt – Jenna Chamberlain: Paper piecing patterns are available to take home for
creating blocks for the raffle quilt and are due back in September.
Show and Tell: Ten ladies shared their recent beautiful creations.
Cheer – Rhonda Nelson:
o Door prizes went to Wendy for the Visitor prize and to Dana Sederoff for Show & Tell.

Lori Dickman presented the helpful topic “Speedy Solutions to Cut and Organize Your Scrap
Stash” by Zoom meeting.
